The point of the preliminary exercise is to create a front page and contents page in which can later be compared to our final outcome.

Preliminary Exercise

These are the outcomes of my final pieces for the preliminary task, the first picture is an image of my 'Goffs Flash Mag' front cover, and the second is and image of my contents page. These both took me 3/4 lessons to complete

Evaluation

i feel that my preliminary as a whole has been a success. After researching the generic conventions of a typical magazine, I have produced a front cover and contents page for a school magazine using these conventions.

The layout of my front cover is typical of a magazine, with the masthead, 'GMAG' very bold and quite large on the top of the page, the main image made central and subheadings and stories surrounding the main image. I made the masthead bold, with colours that contrast with the background colour and main image, as it was overlapping it. My model is dressed smartly in school uniform to represent the idyllic school student. The font I used for my subheadings and stories is informal and appears friendly yo the viewer.

For both front cover and contents page i have used the same matching colour scheme of blue and white representing goffs school.

My contents page is also typical of a magazines contents page. The layout is generically typical and i've also used generic conventions of a contents page, such as editors note, pages numbers, main image etc.

I've listed my contents page numbers and titles with bold page numbers so it's clear but the numbers at the bottom are lest visible as the colour is matching with the navy blazer.
